Makeup FAQ

General FAQ

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL AND AIRBRUSH FOUNDATION?

Traditional Foundation is a thicker consistency, if you have drier skin the traditional makeup will lay better on the skin, fuller coverage.

Airbrush Foundation is perfect for creating a smooth and lightweight finish, perfect for those who don't usually wear makeup, airbrush does not work well with sunburn, excess hair, or dry skin. The formula I use for airbrush is silicone based.

WHERE IS MAKEUP BY TRISTEN LOCATED?

I have a suite in Canandaigua, NY. I travel onsite for wedding mornings and book mobile spray tans upon request.

DO YOU HAVE A TEAM?

A date will not be secured until a retainer and signed contract is submitted. Once both are received I will send a confirmation email. I work on a first come first serve basis, if your contract is not signed and retainer paid then the date is still open to other clients.

HOW LATE DO YOU TAKE APPOINTMENTS?

I recommend doing a trial for all brides. I do not do trials for the wedding party or Mothers of the Bride/Groom. I recommend a trial 1-3 months before your wedding. Trials are a great way for us to get to know each other before the event and to find the perfect look for you as what you think you want might not end up being what you actually want. We will do multiple looks for the trial if need be to find what you love!

IS IT TYPICAL TO START EARLY IN THE MORNING?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STANDARD AND RAPID TANS

The only difference between a standard and rapid tan is the processing time. For a standard tan you will wait 8 hours before your first rinse (or sleep in it). For a rapid tan you will wait 2-5 hours depending on how dark you want to be. We will discuss this at the beginning of your appointment.

WHAT DO I DO FOR MY FIRST RINSE?

Application varies based on the appointment. For a trial I block out two hours. For wedding application the bride will need at least one hour and each member in the bridal party at least 45 minutes. 12 and under can be completed in 15 minutes.

HOW LONG DOES APPLICATION TAKE?

Your first rinse is just a rinse. After your suggested developing time, hop in the shower and rinse off with luke warm water. Spin in the shower util the water runs clear. Do not use any soap, do not wash your hair, do not pee in the shower. Then pat dry.

Waxing FAQ

WHEN CAN I NOT GET A WAX?

I do not have a team, when you book with me you will be talking to me through the whole process and your makeup will be done by me. Due to this I have a limit of 8 as that is highest number of people I can comfortably do in one time period. If you have a larger number keep in mind I will need to start earlier to make sure I have enough time to do everyone. I have artists I have worked with before I would recommend to hire as a second artist if you have a large party I cannot accommodate on my own.

You can make an appointment as late at 8:00pm, send me an email or book online.

HOW CAN I MAKE SURE MY DATE IS SECURED?

WHEN SHOULD I DO A TRIAL?

Yes it is standard to have an early morning start time. Do not be surprised if you have a early event start time and makeup services start 7 hours in advance. It is common to have a 6-8am start time depending on what time you need to be ready and the amount of people getting a service done.
